Niantic Labs, the developer of real-world games’ Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, announced that it will make its outdoor games more indoor-friendly amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are adding to our product roadmap so we can enable more ways to play inside and around the home in the coming days and weeks, when the world needs it most,” Niantic stated.

Pokémon Go will soon track your indoor steps and activities and count them towards game achievements.

The in-game virtual social features are currently being enhanced so that players can still engage with their friends and other players for group achievements, such as raid battles.

Niantic is also reimagining its summer event, Pokémon GO Fest, so that players can participate from the comfort of their homes.
